Location and Property.

Royal Lahaina Resort is located along beautiful North Ka’anapali Beach, on the west side of the island of Maui in the Ka’anapali Resorts area.

Royal Lahaina is a quaint yet spacious full service resort situated on 27 acres of pristine ocean front property featuring 494 rooms and 22 bungalows.

The Royal Lahaina Resort was originally built and in 1962 and has remained locally owned since such time. Rebranded in 2021 to the Royal Lahaina Resort and Bungalows.

The Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows is approximately 29 miles from the main OGG Kahului airport. Driving time is approximately 50 minutes. The resort is only 3 miles from the Kapalua Airport. A smaller commuter airport with connecting flights to Oahu and the outer islands of Kauai, Big Island, Molokai and Lanai.

Resort Fees

We pride ourselves on offering an array of amenities and services to ensure our guests have what they want and need from their travel experience. Please note, that a daily resort fee of $40 USD plus tax will be added to the room rate effective January 3, 2022. This includes an array of amenities and activities for you to enjoy during your stay.

Check In & Check Out

Check-in at the Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows is 4 pm, and check-out is 11 am. Early check-in based on availability

On the day of arrival, the resort will place an authorization hold on your card for any balance due on the reservation—plus $75 per day, for estimated incidental expenses. If your spending exceeds the original hold of $75 per day, additional incremental holds will automatically be obtained. Payment is processed for the balance due on the account at checkout. For reservations longer than 7 days, the card on file will be charged the current balance on the Resort folio every seventh day of your stay and after checkout. Debit Cards will be charged the full amount due on reservation at the time of check-in.

Food & Beverage Services

The Royal Lahaina hosts the Royal Ocean Terrace. An ocean front restaurant featuring Hawaiian cuisine. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. Including indoor and outdoor dining options. The resort also features The Beach Bar for drinks poolside and Scoops for light snacks and food-to-go.

Yes, the Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows has a Beach Bar next to the bungalow pool that serves up hand-crafted cocktails in a laid-back setting, the perfect place to stop for a tropical cocktail or craft brew and watch the beautiful Maui sunset over the Pacific.

The Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant & Lounge serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner overlooking the crystal blue water. Take a peek at their breakfast menu filled with both Maui-inspired options, as well as traditional favorites

Spa & Fitness Center

The Royal Lahaina features The Alana Spa, a full service theraputic health facility. Relax the body, calm the mind, and sooth your spirit. Open from 9 am – 6 pm Mon, Tue, Thu and Fri and from 10 am – 4 pm Wed, Sat and Sunday. For reservations call (808) 270-9772.

The Alana Spa at the Royal Lahaina Resort features a variety of massage styles including outdoor, couples, prenatal, deep tissue and traditional Hawaiian. Additional offerings include a selection of facial and body treatment choices using the latest machines and equipment. Waxing services and brow and lashing tinting are also available.

The Royal Lahaina Resort has a fitness center featuring elliptical machines, treadmills, work out benches and free weights. Complimentary use included with the resort service fee.

Resort Parking

The Royal Lahaina Resort offers self-parking at $35/day

Valet parking at the Royal Lahaina Resort is available for $40/day.

Royal Lahaina Parking fees are $35/day for self parking, or $40/day for valet service

Laundry

Located on the north side of the Royal Square, the Royal Lahaina Resort offers a self-service coin-operated laundry room.

Pets

Yes! We extend a warm aloha to up to 2 (two) pups, up to 75 pounds each. We ask that you review and sign our pet policy when you check-in, and a $100 non-refundable fee per pet will be charged (other fees may apply and be charged in the event of damage). While enjoying vacation with your furry best friend, please keep the following pet policies in mind:

  • Pets must be kept on a leash or in a carrier while in any public area.
  • Except for service animals (as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act) pets are not allowed in the lounge/restaurant.
  • Litter or waste associated with the pet must be properly removed and disposed of by the pet owner while on hotel premises.
  • Pets may NOT be left unattended in guest rooms.
  • If hotel management receives more than 2 (two) complaints, alternative arrangements must be made for your pet.

Transportation

The Ka’anapali Trolly offers transportation to all areas in the Ka’anapali area and is an included feature with the resort service fee. Taxi, Uber and Lyft services are also readily available. Yes. The Outlets of Maui offers convenient shuttle service to Lahaina Town and Whaler’s Village for a small fee. Check out our resort services and activities pages for planning your Maui adventure.

Business Services

Royal Lahaina offers business desks adjacent to the main lobby. A feature included with the daily resort fee and provides guests with access to online information and available for printing boarding passes and small documents.

As of 2021, Royal Lahaina Resort is managed by Highgate Hospitality Group. An international hospitality investment company with over 30 years experience and representing a dynamic array of urban assets, lifestyle and luxury properties, resorts and hotels.

Royal Lahaina Resort was sold to BlackSand Capital by Pleasant Travel Service on December 9th of 2021.

Room Types

The Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows features rooms ranging from 324sq ft up to 1135 sq ft in size. Studios, Two Bedroom Suites and Bungalows are available. VIP accomodations including our signature Beach House are also an option.

View Categories

The Royal Lahaina Resort offers Resort Views, Partial Ocean View, Ocean View and Deluxe Ocean View categories. The differences between Partial Ocean, Ocean View, and Deluxe Ocean View can vary based on the room location at the resort. Most rooms located in the Lahaina Kai main tower feature partial to deluxe ocean views.

Resort Views look out on the beautifully landscaped resort grounds. Partial Ocean View rooms are located on the 3rd through 5th floors of the main Tower, face north or south, and offer limited views of the ocean and surrounding areas from the guest room lanai. Ocean View and Deluxe Ocean View rooms offer views of the ocean from the guest room lanai. If you’re not sure which room type is for you, book the Partial Ocean View and request to see a different view type when you arrive. If availability allows, you can pay a small upgrade fee to switch.

Housekeeping Services

When you stay at a Royal Lahaina Resort, enjoy peace of mind knowing that your room will be thoroughly cleaned prior to your arrival and a modified service every other day of your stay. Additional needs throughout your stay may be arranged by contacting the front desk or through the guest messenging service.

Commitment to Conservation: With modified service you help us conserve resources and preserve the natural wonder of Hawaii. Together we can save millions of gallons of water from chlorine and detergents.

Locks and Safes

Electronic safes are included in all our rooms, suites, and bungalows for safe storage of your valuables and personal items.

Air Conditioning

The resort includes air conditioning in all rooms and bungalows.

In-Suite Amenities

The Royal Lahaina Resort and Spa features Olu shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. An exclusive product made for the Highgate Hawaii hospitality family of properties and resorts.

Clothing irons are provide in all bedrooms and suites throughout the resort. Deluxe oceanview suites include steamers for your added convenience.

Hawaiian Paradise Coffee is supplied in all rooms at Royal Lahaina. Refreshed every other day with housekeeping or available on-request through our in-house guest experience application.

The resort includes a hair dryer in all suites and bungalows.

Pools and Poolside Amenities

Pools at Royal Lahaina are not heated. Though guest tend to find our pools to be a refreshing reprieve from the warm Kāʻanapali sun.

The pools at Royal Lahaina are open from 6:00 a.m. through Sunset.

The resort features a poolside service desk providing mask and snorkel, boogie board, stand up paddle, kayaks and more. Items including suncreen and sunglasses are also available for sale. Games including Bocce Ball, Shuffleboard and Cornhole are availabe for check from The Beach Bar.

Coolers and outside beverages are prohibited from the pool area. The resort features The Beach Bar right next to the pool that has daily happy hour.Our beach chair and umbrella rentals include a cooler with ice and waters. Coolers are allowed on Kaanapali beach, as long as there is no glass.

Temporarily Unavailable – Food service is available at The Beach Bar and the Royal Ocean Terrace, right next to the pool area and open daily.

Royal Lahaina does not include hot tubs at this time.

Resort And Cultural Activities

Concierge services at the Royal Lahaina Resort are provided by Blue Hawaiian Activities. Conveniently located adjacent to the main lobby of the resort.

The Royal Lahaina Resort features tennis courts operated by the Royal Lahaina Tennis Ranch. The program includes a 3500 seat main court and 10 surrounding courts, with 5 of the courts lighted for night play. Open Daily.

Royal Lahaina Tennis Ranch court fees range from $15/day to $20/day, offering private, semi-private and clinics as well. Equipment rentals are also available.

The Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows offers a Hawaiian Cultural Center which features activities including basic Hawaiian language hula lessons, coconut education, lauhala weaving, makahiki games, ti leaf lei making and more.

The luau is outdoors in a casual, family-oriented environment. We suggest you dress comfortably, wear closed-toe walking shoes, and check the local weather report as conditions may change quickly on Maui. No bare feet, please.

During Summer Months
Wear light clothing but be aware the temperature may drop considerably after the sun goes down. Bring sunscreen, a light sweater, a hat, and sunglasses.

During Winter Months
We suggest long pants and long-sleeved shirts. You’ll likely be more comfortable with a sweater or light jacket as well.

Book your Luau for the first few days of your trip to give you the most flexibility in the event you need to change your activity plans. Locals say Saturdays and Mondays typically have the most availability and you’ll likely get better seats to experience the show up close and personal

Our oceanfront Myths of Maui Luau features a sumptuous assisted buffet and dinner service. Hot entrées include Teriyaki Chicken, Kalua Pork, and Asian Steamed Swai. VIP tickets are available at the Luau entry based on availability. However, the VIP section typically sells out so we highly recommend purchasing them in advance.

The Myths of Maui features a variety of great food choices from our assisted buffet for almost every taste—including a wide range of vegetarian and vegan choices to accommodate guests with food allergies or intolerances.

When making your reservations, please be sure to let us know if you have any food allergies or special requests. Additional charges may apply.

Unfortunately, outside food and beverages are not permitted on the Luau grounds, including bottled water and personal beverage containers.

There is plenty of parking available at the Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows to accommodate Luau guests. Please remember that parking is $10 per car.

Kaanapali Beach & Ocean Information

The Kaanapali Beachwalk stretches from North to South Kaanapali and connects you with Whaler’s Village, about a 15-minute to walk from the Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows, with some stops along the way.

The resort offers beach towels and beach chairs on a first-come, first-served basis. Oceanfront cabanas are available to rent along with beach rentals, including kayaks, paddle boards, snorkeling gear, at the Beach Activities Center or online.

Maui Island Information

Whether it is your first time to Maui or your tenth, you’ll fall in love with the tropical setting, beautiful temperature, and gorgeous landscapes all year long. Maui’s balmy climate is relatively consistent, with daytime highs in the mid-80s in summer to mid-70s in winter, making it a great travel destination in any season. The majority of rainfall occurs in winter months (November through March), but rain showers are typically short and are sometimes followed by glowing rainbows. Summers get pretty crowded due to summer break and vacations.

There are many options for getting around Maui to see the sights. The Royal Lahaina shuttle goes to Lahaina Town and Whaler’s Village. There are also local public buses, tour buses, trolleys, and of course taxis/Uber. For the Road to Hana, we recommend renting a car, because of the many stops along the way that are both scenic and fun. For an ultimate adventure, book a sightseeing tour through our activities desk to help plan your Maui vacation. Schedule helicopter tours, whale-watching cruises, parasailing, scuba and snorkeling excursions, ziplining, and more, all with transportation included.

You must check out the Hawaiian Green sea turtles while staying with us at Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows. Just off the southern coastline, stop at beaches such as Keawakapu in Kihei, Ulua and Polo Beach in Wailea, as well as Maluaka Beach just south of Makena Landing to see turtles up close. In West Maui, you can usually spot sea turtles in Kaanapali when snorkeling by Puu Kekaa, as well as the point between Napili Bay and Honokeana Cove. During summer months when the surf is calm, Kapalua Bay and Honolua Bay are popular sea turtle hot spots as well.

No trip to Maui is complete without visiting one of the island’s picture-perfect waterfalls, all easy to get to from Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows. The majority of waterfalls are concentrated along the incredibly scenic and legendary winding Road to Hana, along Maui’s tropical east coast. Some must-see waterfalls include:

A trip to the world’s largest dormant volcano, Haleakala, is without a doubt a must-do. Watching the sun rise or set there is a popular activity for both tourists and locals. Stargazing, hiking, biking, horseback riding and ziplining are other fun ways to explore the massive volcano and see Maui.

If you’re hoping to catch a whale sighting while in Maui, try visiting during whale season, typically from December 15 to May 15, with peak activity from January until the end of March. Traveling to Hawaii during the holiday season? Expect to see a whale during a snorkeling tour or out at sea.

Catching a sunset in Maui is truly like no other in the world. People stop what they are doing and pay attention to this post-card like end to their day. The Haleakala National Park is a dream-like place where you can hike volcanoes at an altitude of 3,000 meters and sunsets and sunrises are amazing from this point. Every beach in Maui also offers an exceptional vantage point. Notable locations include Keawakapu Beach, Lahaina Pali Trail, and a Kaanapai Sunset Sail.
